ELEPHANT D'AFRIQUE

'Eléphant d’Afrique (mâle)' est une œuvre en raku, représentant un éléphant, un des animaux les plus emblématiques du continent africain. Ce dernier mesure 51 x 51 x 76 cm. La position de ses pattes, fléchie et levée pour la patte arrière droite nous permettent de supposer que l’éléphant est en mouvement. De plus, l’artiste dans ses créations, réalise chaque détail minutieusement, la texture de la peau est ainsi très réaliste. Les défenses de l’animal sont glaçurées et ont ainsi cet aspect brillant contrairement à la peau qui à un aspect rugueux. Il s 'agit d’une pièce unique impressionnante.

'African elephant (male)' is a raku work depicting an elephant, one of the most emblematic animals of the African continent. The latter measures 51 x 51 x 76 cm. The position of its legs, bent and raised for the right hind leg, allow us to assume that the elephant is presented in motion. In addition, the artist in his creations, realizes every detail meticulously, the texture of the skin is thus realistic. The animal’s defenses are glazed and thus have this shiny appearance unlike the skin which has a rough appearance. It is an impressive unique piece.

Raku is a complex enamelling technique that requires several firings. The first cooking is at 980°, then there is the enamelling and a second cooking which is faster at 980°. In addition, at the end of the second firing the sculpture is then immersed in sawdust. The latter gives rise to a black smoke that will allow the cracking of enamel and thus give the various roughnesses of the work and the relief. Boucard Tania is an artist mastering this technique perfectly which allows this impressive result concerning the animals she represents.
