L'Esprit de l'Œuvre

'Orang-outan' is a work by Claire Crétu made of terracotta. The artist represents in a singular way the animal since the work is not intended to be realistic but to represent the orangutan according to the emotions and feelings of the artist.

This is a unique piece. The animal is represented by its characteristic features, the colour of its coat in particular and its particular head shape. He seems to look at the viewer. The orangutan is thus depicted as a passive and harmless being.

It is a unique work filled with delicacy and precision. The artist evokes the fact of favouring “emotion before reflection” which forms his creation. The emotions are also transmitted by the animal represented which arouses a certain expressiveness.

She is an artist with original works and full of emotions. Terracotta allows a simple and authentic aspect to the sculpture.
